HILDA, Dee, 23.—Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mehrer are spending the Christmas holidays with their daugh ters in Calgary. Mrs. Bury ,daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Beherbach, has received a telegram from defence headquar ters at Ottawa advising that her hus band, Corporal Bury, has been seri ously wounded in action. Mrs. Montgomerie has received sev eral letters from local boys overseas acknowledging the receipt of parcels sent to them by the ladies of Hilda and district. Pte. Eddie Kundert re ports that he is recovering from wounds in a convalescent home in England and is looking forward to going on leave for Christmas. L/Cpl. Eddie Buchholz sent a cheery letter from Italy and thinks that “they will finish off this war during the coming year,” a L/Cpl. Bill Heinz writes on behalf of himself and his brother ,Sgt. R. Heinz. They are both in Belgium and Bill says that “I have learnt enough French to keep me from going ‘hun gry.” Sgt. Elmer Schlenker writes from Italy describing life among the Italians and states that although he would like to get home that he wants to stay over there to see this thing
