Col. Reese has just received letters from his brother, i in which, after alluding to the shortness of the route, he states that “we made thejourney in seventeen days, and spent muchtime in reconnoitering and examining the country.” They could not have traveled more than twenty-five or thirty miles per day, and given their animals any oppor-I tunity to feed.---4*---
