that section at this season of the year.”A New Route to Salt Lake.—A newroute to Salt Lake has been discovered.— Enoch Reese, a member of the Utah Legislature from Carson Valley, says the Pla-cerville American, in company with some seventeen individuals, recently traveledwith a train of pack animals from the Valley to Salt Lake, over an entirely new route, in seventeen days—the quickest trip ever made with a pack-train. Col. Reese has just received letters from his brother, i in which, after alluding to the shortness of the route, he states that “we made thejourney in seventeen days, and spent muchtime in reconnoitering and examining the country.” They could not have traveled more than twenty-five or thirty miles per day, and given their animals any oppor-I tunity to feed.---4*---
