LOCAL NEWS,William W. Conwat?—A meeting of ofcr citizens was held at Council Hall on last Saturday evening, to express their grief at the sadden death of this gentle-man. We are compelled, much against our wish, to abridge the proceedings.— The following resolutions were adopted : Whereas, it has been announced that onr much esteemed fellow citizen, William W. Conway, died after a short illness, on the 18th inst., at New Orleans, and that his remains are on the way to this place, therefore,/ Resolved, That we deeply sympathize with the relatives, and deplore with them the unexpected and untimely death of William W. Conway.Besolved, That out o.f respect to the memory of the departed, we will unite with the Qdd Fellows in accompanying ,*Ktisj*emains'ta their last resting place.Besolved, TJiat on the day of interment the merchants \nlt;i business men of tbis city be requested Vio close their doors.Resolved, That Jie bells of this city be tolled on the moving of the day ofinterment.Besolved, That we will wear erape on the left arm for thirty days, as an expression of our unfeigned regret for the demise of so highly esteemed a friend.JHT Mr. Dyer’s lecture last evening wa* listened to by the largest audienceat+Anrlpd ftnv leefiire delivered
