Delbert Schmidt CANISTOTA — Funeral services for Delbert C. Sch midt, 72, of Canistota are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem with the Rev. Leo Pospichal of ficiating. Burial will be at Salem. There will be a 8 p.m. rosary Friday at the Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. He was born May 12, 1903 at McGregor, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Schmidt and died suddenly at his home in Canistota Dec. 24. He moved with his parents to Aberdeen in 1905 and there married Beryl] Kingsbury on Oct. 1, 1929. In 1949 he moved to Canistota where he operated a creamery until 1964. Since then, Mr. Sch midt has worked as a bookkeeper for the McCook County Highway Dept. Survivors include his wife of Canistota; two sons, Robert of Apple Valley, Minn, and John of Princeton, N.J.; two brothers, Bernard of Aberdeen and Edward of Middleton, Wisc.; two sisters, Dolores Sch midt of Denver, Cole, and Mrs. Rollah (Bernadyne) Aston of Tuscon, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. Bertha Edwards WINFRED — Funeral ser vices for Mrs. Bertha Mae Edwards, 67, of Winfred are 2 pm, Saturday at the Congregational Church of Winfred with the Rev. Shelby Light officiating. Burial will be at the Winfred cemetery. She was born Sept. 17, 1908 in Lake County to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Demaray and died Dec. 24 at a Madison hospital. On Oct. 30, 1928, she married Elis Edwards. Survivors include her husband of Winfred, two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Har mdierks of Foreston, Minn, and Mrs. Walter Harmdierks of Madison; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Beck of Huron and Anna Hefty of Sioux Falls; one brother, George Demaray of Ramona; and eight grandchildren. Charlotte Fortier funeral services for Mrs. Delano (Charlotte) Fortier, 42, Mitchell, will be Saturday, Dec. 27, at 2:30 p.m. in the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Ser vicemen’s Memorial Plot at Graceland Cemetery at Mit chell. In state will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. Mrs. Fortier was born at Kimball on Oct. 11, 1933 and married Delano Fortier on Dec. 26, 1968 at Mt. Vernon. She died Dec. 23 at a local hospital. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Alta Troll, Mitchell; a sister, Mrs. Clarence Soulek, Kimball; and a grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister. Frank Volk Funeral services for Frank Volk, 85, Ethan, will be Saturday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Ethan with Fr. Power of ficiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The body will be in state from 7-9 p.m. Friday with a scripture reading at 8 p.m. at the funeral home and from $:30 a.m. to service time at the church. , Mr. Volk was born in Plain, Wis. Feb. 9, 1890 to Mr. and Mrs. Philip Volk and died Dec. 23 at a Sioux Falls hospital. He married Clara Reinsbach May 30, 1910 at Dimock. Coming to South Dakota at age 19, he farmed in the Ethan-Dimock area and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. John’s Society. Survivors include the widow; four children, Wilbert, Clarence and Erwin, Mitchell; and Mrs. Art (Elsie) Schlaff man, Ethan; a brother, Leo, Sauk City, Wis.; a sister, Mrs. Barb Kreul, Baraboo, Wis.; 20 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and seven brothers and sisters. Ben Siren BURKE — Funeral services for Ben A. Siren, 66, Gregory, will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke with the Rev. Dale Lautenslager officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Burke. Mr. Siren was born Oct. 27, 1909 at Gregory to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Siren and died Dec. 23 at a Gregory hospital. He married Isabelle Steckman on Jan. 12, 1942 at Butte, Neb. Survivors include the widow; a son, Donald and a daughter, Mrs. Tony (Jeanine) Littau; a brother, Paul, Hemet, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Kay Cotter and Gertrude Siren, Aurora, Al; Mrs. Claire Stevens, Lafayette, Ind; and Mrs. Lou Larson, Mitchell; and a granddaughter. Archie Pepper BURKE — Funeral services for Archie Pepper, 73, Bonesteel, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Bonesteel auditorium with the Rev. Howard Remmich officiating. Burial will be in the Rosebud Cemetery at Bonesteel. Friends may call Friday evening at Clausen Funeral Home at Burke. Mr. Pepper was born July 9, 1902 at Bonesteel to Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Pepper and died Dec. 23 at a Burke hospital. He married Muriel Doane on May 22,1926 at Bonesteel. Survivors include the widow; four sons, Duane and Gerald, Bonesteel; Dennis, Denver; and Roland, Las Vegas; two sisters, Gladys McMichael, Petaluma, Calif.; and Grace McCoy, Bonesteel; two brothers, Glenn, Bonesteel and Dale, Meadow Grove, Neb.; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dale Spicer CANISTOTA — Funeral services for Dale Spicer, 43, are incomplete under the direction of Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. He died suddenly at his home in Canistota Dec. 25. Levi Beatch SALEM — Funeral services for Levi Beatch, 83, of Salem are incomplete under the direction of Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. He died at a Mitchell hospital Dec. 26.
