One Time I.O.O.F. Grand io^e Officer DiesG. W.- Bruce, Grand Secretary Emeritus of the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma Independent Order of Odd Fellows* died at his home in Guthrie, Oklahoma on Friday night.December 20, 1046 after a lingering illness. He was born in Red Creek, New York, on May 1* 1867, and was One of the 89ers who made the run in Oklahoma in 1889. . He has made* his home in Guthrie most of the time since coming to the-state on that memorable day.Funeral services. Under the direction of Davis-—Owen Funeral Directors, will be conducted from the First Methodist Chureh in Guthrie at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, December 26. The graveside services will be conducted by the Odd Fellcrws, of which he was a member for more than fifty years.Mr. Bruce is survived by his wife, 'Flora Bruce; two sons, Leon-: ard and Harry; one daughter, Mrs.,I Esther Fuhrmann; and nine grand [ children; The body will ie at his7 i heme at 221 S. Ash St.; Guthrie, from Tuesday until 8:30 on Thursday morning, when it .was moved to the Odd Fellows Lodge room* to lie in State from 9 until; 10 A.M., when a special service cf remern brance was held, with Past Grand Master C. Everett Murphy of Kingfisher presiding.Mr. Bruce was Grand Secretary of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Oklahoma for 39 years. He resigned T.vo years ago, but was elected Grand Secretary Efcn eritus for life. He had been a member of the Order for more than 54 years, and was active in all branches of the Order, having served as Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampfment in 1896 and,until the time of his death, he was the oldest living Past Grand Patriarch of the State of Oklahoma.He was well known throughout the state as well as the United State? through his .work in Odd Fellowship. He had attended 51 sessions of the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma I.0. O. F. and 31 se^jsions of the Sovereign Grand Lodge prior to his late illness. He was also an active metfnber of the Masonic Order, Methodist Church, and was a civic, worker.
