Jews Return Art To IsraelJERUSALEM——Jewish bonks and art as well as the Jews themselves are returning these days to Israel. Volumes in Hebrew and Yiddish are arriving, or being collected. by the tens of thonsands for cultural outlets in the new Jewish state. Central and Eastern Europe and New York are supplying the largest numbers.Valuable paintings and other objects of art are stored now in F'rance, Holland, Italy and other J countries awating a time when shipment will be safe and when the collections will not be endangered by warfare. Jewish painters in France have donated painting?, mainly for the Jewish National Bczalel museum here. A complete museum is being moved from Slovakia to Jerusalem. Holy relics of* Italian synagogues in Rome and ? Venice are en route. Holland has s collected a selection of etchings by ‘ Rembrandt and other Dutch mas-11 ters.•• Ten? of thousands of volumes are ! being shipped from the United* States and other countries.
