NEWTON. Board of Selectmen.—The last meeting but one of the Board of Selectmen was held, Tuesday after noon, and much was done towards winding up the affairs of the town. Petitions were received and re ferred to the new City Government, as follows: From d. N. Bacon et al, to lay out Peabody street from Washington street to Pearl street; from William Claf lin et al, to lay out Greenwood avenue and to estab lish a new roadway in Newtonville; from N. H. Bry ant et al, for a new street from Washington street through the Brookside farm estate to Waterman street; from G. M. P. Darling, for a high way to be known as Reservoir avenue, leading from Beacon street to Hammond street; from B. F. Tyler et al, for laying out a highway known as Pearl street; from N. Ames et al, for a highway from Oak street to Chestnut street, Upper Falla; from John W. Gar land et al, for laying out Adams avenue, West New ton; from Francis M. Johnson et al, for a highway from the north side of Station street, near the old mansion Horace Cousens, to the south side Beacon street; from Edward Alden et al, to Putnam and Temple Streete, West Newton; from J. B. Lovell et al, to lay out Murray street across Highland avenue to Washington street; from William J.
