Mrs. Almira Berard, whose body was \ found lute yesterday behind the fur-| haee of her home at 351 Willow avenue. She had been strangled to death, it was stated by * physicians . who examined her body.today, officers having worked all night I H |without success to pick up clews that might solve the mystery.The woman's husband, John E. Ber- f ard, reported that a pocketbook he J bought for his wife at the Sesqui- j Cenlenial exposition was missing. The i purse contained S4.S0 he said. ]Mrs. Berard was last seen alive [ about three o’clock yesterday when * R, W.. Moore, engineer for the Milwaukee railroad, who rooms at the Berard home, left the house. He toldpolice officers that Mrs. Berard in-troduced him to. a man. giving the name of Williams, who was seated inIAlthough her body was found about six o’clock last night, no announcement was made by the police until j the front room of the house.--j Coroner (Sutler received a myster-‘ ions telephone call late yesterday stating that a woman had committedministration of primary road money ttruler the direct control of the state highway commission would receive “its share of attention” at the handssuicide at the Berard home.
