F. W. Cannon Guardian of Harley ShafferThin Thursday will be • day long remembered by little eleven year old Harley Shaffer For the pant two year a he haa made Ida home with F. W Cannon, who in now the proprietor of the (Matron Cafe in tbia city, Mr. Cannon Haa been wanting to be ap* pointed the legal guardian of the child, but haa been opposed in that direction by Mra. Mary Anglerton of Omaha, who is Harley's grandmother. Mr. Cannon was taking the proper tegal course to be appointed guardian of the boy, and waa going along smoothly until this morning.Harley was skating with a crowd of other boys on the skating pond north of the drug store, about the middle of the forenoon, when a car stopped in the street by the pond and Ilia grandmother assisted by several others, hustled him Into the car and started for the state line as fast as tliey could go In Hilly Austin, Mr, Cannon and Sherif) Hayes found a faster driver, and managed to overtake the other car before it reached the Nebraska line.Alt the parties were compelled to return to Torrington and a hearing was held before Coart Commissioner Johnson this after-noon, who ordered that F. W. C.mnon be appointed guardian of the boy until tie shall reach the age of fourteen.
