Married Man and Another Man’s Wife Registered In Hotel, Discovered and Exposed. The Cobleskill Index says: The disappearance of two residents of this section and their reappearance later .i Schenevus has caused con siderable unfavorable comment to be turned in their direction. The follow ing story comes from a reliable source: Carl Gott, son of Manhattan Gott of ast Worcester, was united in marri age with Miss Chrissie Warner, who resided between the latter village and Charlotteville, several years ag0. It was supposed they lived happily together and a daughter came to brighten their home. For the past five or six years Gott and his family have resided in Schenectady, where he was engaged in contracting and building and was doing well. About 10 days ago Gott left Sche nectady, telling his wife he was going on a business trip. After several days of patient waiting for her husband’s return, she became anxious and finally through the aid of friends, located the wanderer at Schenevus. The second character of the drama was here introduced in the person of Xirs. Florence Marcley of Janesville, who was formerly Miss Florence Kitts of Beekman’s Corners. Gott and Mrs. Marcley were registered as Mr. and Mrs. Carman at Hotel Liver in Sche nevus. Mrs. Gott visited her husband at the hotel and endeavored to per suade him to return home with her, which he positively refused to do. About 5 a m., Tuesday morning, Mrs. Gott, accompanied by a consta ble and lawyer, visited the hotel, and after considerable parleying, during which the officer threatened to break down the door, admittance was finally gained and a stormy interview fol lowed. The result was that Gott gave his wife $250 in cash and signed over to her all the household property. It is stated that the man and woman left Schenevus on Tuesday on a west bound train and have not been heard from since. Mrs. Gott returned to Schenectady, where she will reside with her daughter, a girl of eight or nine years of age, and will engage in dressmak ing. She has instituted proceeding for a divorce. Mrs. Mareley has been absent from her home at Janesville for the past five weeks. We are informed, and notified the neighbors that she was going away for a visit. The affair is generally regretted by the friends of Mrs. Gott and of Mrs. Marcley, as they are held in high es teem by all who know them.
