CASSIMER LEY KILLEDThe Old Lamplif hter Met Death Near the Tower Sunday*WAS THROWN FORTY FEETWhen Struck By the Heavy Euftae Attachedto the Noon Train tiolaf W«t—Witnesses to the Tragedy.Cassimere Ley, who since 1891 has been a lamplighter in the employ of the Pennsylvania company, was killed, by the second section of Pan Handle train No. 19 a'short distance west of the tower east of the city Sunday afternoon. lie was aged 61 years. .Ley began about i o’clock to light the switch lamps in the network of tracks near the tower. lie had completed the work above that point and had moved toward, the city when he met Henry Surikle. who' works about the station daring the week and walks the track east oh Sunday. Ley ' adjusted a-lamp, and was about to step across the west track to another switch, carrying a lamp in each hand. . At that moment the heavy passenger train dashed into view around the curve, more than three hours late. Sunkle shouted a warning to Ley, but he. was too late. The oid lamplighter was,struck by the engine and his body hurled 40 feet through the air.
