IS, whore he lived umtril bis twelfth year. His father * health fading, the family went West, to Jansspille, Wisconsin. After a few years hit. mother returned to t’te East, leaving Daniel with the family of Charles H. Anderson, who took iively interest in his welfare and education. They aseited and advised him all. through his acimol life as if he were their own sou.He played in an orchestra at night and attended public school in the day ur.til hie'eighteenth year. During the mmtr months he worked at any-thing w: ich would turn a honest penny. At eoghteen he entered the Janesville Classical Academy and remained till his pmduaiion, when re entered the office of Surgeon-Qt neral Hdary Palmer in 1887 to study m dicine and surgery. Here he closely applied hi on self for two yearn. In 1879 he matriculated at the Chicago Medical College and after four years of exhaustive study, graduated in 1503.Dr. Williams now opened an office at tiie corner of Michigan avenue and Thirty first street, and for ten years has had the same location. Thus is in the wealthiest residence part of the oily and \)r. Williams bus built up a magnificent mixed practice. His pa ients range from the aiislocratie whiic residents of Michigan avenue to the poorest Afro-American. During this time he has seized every i.pport ni'y to perfect himself in the stu fy of his specialty —surgery. In abdominal surgery he is the peer of any suigeon n Chicago, andhasbeen remarkably suoeeeful with his cases.Dr. Williams success in his profession is to be attributed to hard persistent siudy; he shirked no work how* ever leborieus, for a mastery of his profession; he served lung apprenticeship in the dir ecting room and did much unpleasant work connected therewith, before the human body with all its complicated maefinery of bone, blood and muscle become to him an open book. He then became to Demonstrator of Anadomy at ids Alma Mater. Besides his large pract-ice, Dr. Williams is physician to the P oiettant Orphan Asylum; surreoa of the South Side Dispensary; to Pi evident Hospital and is on the staff ef suigeons employed by the Chicago City Railway Conwpa. y.
