Robberies.—The petty robberies were followed on Monday morning by one of a j more startling character, the jewelry store * of George W. Gibson in Market street hav-j ing been entered by taking out the transom I above the door, and as near as can be as-wI certnined about $700 worth of gold and si 1-cver watches c. taken therefrom. One of the watches was subsequently found in Brown street, between Market and Water, but thus far no clue has been obtained as to the perpetrators of this bold robbery.I Some mis]lt;icion was aroused against a young man who left in the morning train, and by I the aid of the telegraph he was arrested at Altoona and detained a day, but beyond a few circumstances, which might however be satisfactorily accounted lor, nothing was elicited to warrant a binding over.
