Kings sell KBIM radio to NoalmarkLauren E. Toney Record Staff WriterKing Broadcasting Company, owner of KBIM AM/FM, announced Thursday that the stations are to be sold to Noalmark Broadcasting Corp. Approval was granted by the Federal Communication Commission on Nov. 30, and the sale is expected to close Jan. 1.King Broadcasting Company has owned and operated KBIMAM/FM since 1981. The com-*pany’s owners, John and Betty King, have been well-respectedin the broadcasting community for many years, with Betty King having served as president of the New Mexico Broad-«casters Association from 1992 to 1993. The Kings will move into retirement when the stations are sold, ending their distinguished broadcasting careers“It’s thrilling to see a capable and professional broadcaster come in to continue serving Roswell and southeastern New Mexico,” Betty King said,iNoalmark Broadcasting, which has been in operationsince 1973, is a group broadcaster that owns and operates 16 radio stations in Arkansas and five stations in Hobbs.Paul Starr, general manager of Noalmark’s Hobbs stations since 1986, also serving as the group’s vice president for its western region, said Noalmarkhas been a friend and admirer»of the Kings for many years and is thrilled to be able to acquire the Roswell stations.Starr announced that Noalmark has hired Kevin Bonner, former general manager of KVOU/KUVA and KVOU/AM in Uvalde, Texas, as the newgeneral manager for the stations after Noalmark assumes operations.Starr added that Noalmark intends to continue the tradition of broadcast excellence and of service to the Roswell community and southeastern New Mexico that has been the hallmark of John and Betty King during their ownership of the stations.Betty King said, “John and I would like to thank our wonderful clients, sponsors and, most importantly, our listeners that have allowed us to operate all these years.”
