to MICHAEL HEALY Ta Salle Upbeat Adviser AL 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. € 2 members of the La Salle senior class departed the campus for the snows of the San Gabriel Mountains. The expedition was under, the direction of John “Ollie” Oli er, Joe McCaleb, Tom Mc Loughlin, and Mike Genovese. ‘The group returned in time to plaster the slushy white stwif all over the southwest corner of Mipvillinda Avenue and Sierra Madre Boulevard. ‘The panorama of white snow surprised not only passing mo torists, but also the La Salle student body who celebrated a “White Christmas on the last day of school before the Christmas break. Ten cars, a half doven trucks, and thhree faculty members — Brother E. Mar tin, Brother Harold, Brother Donald, participated in the venture. With chains and shovels at the ready, the con voy rolled through the quiet streets of Pasadena toward sness of the Angeles National Forest. Upon finding a suita ble deposit of the valuable substance (snow, that is) along the Angeles Crest High way, the troops disembarked and prepared to storm the ramparts of the snow king dom. ‘That's when the sun began! In the entie darkness, midst flying snow, ditdhed babiles, glimmering flashlights, and occasionally pumping shovels the trucks were somehow fired. Reluctantly, the weary combatants returned to La Salle, repairing tilstered palms and rubbing Incipient frostbite with winter's balm (snow, that is). The convoy returned to the departure point by 6:00 a.m., and quickly moved Operation Snow Job into its final phase. All able-hodied men preceded Pizzas Anybody? One way to get foot you like is to open your own res taurant.Mike Jessen, Pete Grucastely, and Jed Harris, all A-year-old students at Bel oit College, have done so at “Our House, * featuring pizzas and other cods sometimes hard to find there, to symother the canons of La Salle High School with clean, white snow. Why was this done?” you may ask. Weill, it, was done primarily for the fan of it. And it was fun to implement the novel idea of giving La Salle a snow job and a “White Christ mas.” It was also done to pig ficize the Sno-Ball Dance, held Thursday in. And finally, the senior class liked the idea of staying up all night in order to engage in a one-sided snow ball fight with startled stu dents reporting In school at 145 am
