In the Audubon county home lives a strange man. He is William Perry, 76 year's old, known as “Silent Bill. He has not spoken a word voluntarily for 60 years. The story is that a half century ago the girl he was to marry left him at the altar for another man. He made a vow then which he has never broken in all the 60 years since. Somtimes he whispers a single word to make known his wants. But otherwise he spends his life apart from his fellow-men, alone with his memories.
