POLICE NEWS\ ^A man whose finger-prints identified him as James Loftus, police character said to have been allied | with the Capone faction in gangland, was “taken for a ride,” shot dead and tossed from an automobile yesterday at Ninety-first St. and California Ave., Evergreen Park.The body was found by Miss Nellie ' Kipper, a resident of the neighborhood. Theodore Klemt, a farmer living near by, told police he had heard a number of shots a short time beforeThere were six bullet wounds in the man’s body and one in his head. Near his body lay fourteen cartridges, seven for a 32-caliber weapon and seven for a .38.No jewelry was found in the clothing and the cash totaled only $1.35. Marks of identification were missing.Loftus’ last address, according to police, was 9919 Avenue 11, South Chicago, where he lived with his sister, Margaret. A previous address was given as G354 Maryland Ave.lie was arrested on a larceny charge July 21, 1924, and was fined $200 and | placed on probation. On December 21, 1925, former Capt. John Stege arrested him on a disorderly conduct charge and he was fined $10.Police said he frequented the neighborhood of Eighteenth St. and Wabash Ave.
