Sheriff Wagner, Under Sheriff Rein and Deputy Sheriff Mlifter will back up the assertion and they ought to know for the reason that they have taken care of more people with diseased minds than njosn other men in the county.Under Sheriff Rein and Deputy Mutter had an esperjenc with an insane woman this morning- that they will remember for some time. Her name is Anna Svoboda and her home in the town of Caledonia- She was examined by physicians .and reported an Incurable and Judge Bolden committed her to the Racine county asylum.She is- crazy on the subject of washing. Every morning she gets out of bed; dresses herself in a cauco■ dress; pulls ou-t the wash tubs and other utensils and proceeds to wash and. scrub all day long. This she has Kept up for a long time.Yesterday morning Deputy Mutter went: out to get the woman. He -took a little girl with him, the girl being acquainted with the insane woman and believed that she could persuade her to come into town. They found the demented woman in the yard armed wkb an ax and chopping wood. The girl made an effort to coax the woman to accompany her. out, it failed to work and she showed a, disposition to chop both the girl and; the officer to pieces with the ax and, they came home without bar.Thii' morning Mr. Rein and Mr.Mut*. ter, with another gentleman, went out-, ■to get her -and They experienced tho-. liveliest kind of a scrap. Anna ref us-, ed to go and showed fight, and this, manner in which she wrestled the. three men around was a caution. The, hand-cuffs were placed on her wrists, and it was necessary to strap herr clown before she could be subdued.This afternoon Mr. Mutter and % Burlington gentlemen started for thfs. asylum with her and she was token, with an ugly fit at the depot and; scra-tched and fought desperately, and] Mr. fu.:-ter*s hands show marks of tb«^ encounter.
