LEGION OF MERIT AWARD FOR COMMANDER MUL1ERICHARLESTON, S. C.—Lieutenant Commander Bruno C. Mulieri, of the news department of the Charleston Evening Post, has been awarded the Legion of Merit for “exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services in Italy from November 5. 1943 to August 1,1945. The services consisted in rehabilitation of the Italian fishing industry.Commander Mulieri was also instrumental in the publication of a civic affairs manual issued by the office of the chief of naval operations which was the office of which was later used as a model for all European nations and as a guide for military government officials in the Pacific area.Commissioned in the Coast Guard Reserve in 1942, Commander Mulieri is a graduate of the University of North Carolina. Iiis wife is the former Miss Teresa Punaro of Augusta, Ga. They have I wo children, Vincent, who is seven years old, and a daughter, born last week.
