Lucy A. Deacon was born near Liberty, Union County, Indiana, August 31,1S52 and died at ber home in Cass County, Indiana, December 5, 1911. Age 59 years, three months, four do^s. She was united in marriage to Edward Friend, January 15, 1878. Her husband, one son, two brothers and two sisters survive her. Much might be said in memoriam but her life speaks for itself. She was brave, loyal and true in the busy world she was honored and respected. A blessing to her community, her family, the church and was always doing what she could to make the world better and others happy. After a short but severe illness death swept through the quiet shadows of evening and kissed into silence forever lips that were once warm with ferrent affection.No more fitting tribute, no nobler or grander crown can be placed above her than—that she did what she could to better the world by a life of fidelity and truth. The spirit that has winged its flight across the voiceless sea to the meadow lands of Heaven has left a memory rich with fragrance that will live on with the living who knew Lucy Friend.
