REFORM COMMITTEEStops Production of Sun* day Show.•THREATENED ARRESTOf Manager, Performers and Others ~MNight Before Christmas’*Win Be Piayed Monday Night Now.The reform committee has taken decided action to prevent the production of “The Night Before Christmas” on Sunday evening, as advertised.Ihe attention of Theodore Alvord. , the attorney for the reform committee, was recently called to the advertise-' merit of the Sunday evening theater, and this morning Mr* Alvord. it is said, cor-ferred with Judge Kelly. Judge Merrill, H. C. Huntington and fF. Mack with reference to taking some action toward preventing the performance on Sunday evening. The result was that Mr. Alvord notified ManagerG. A- Boeckling that in case the show was put on Sunday night, the manager of .he house, the attaches, every per former and even the ushers would ba placed under arrest.Manager Boeckling immediately sent a representative to confer with Mr. Alvord, but a wordy controversy ended without results favorable to Mr. Boeckling. Mr. AlvGrd intimated that the committee was inexorable, and that any violation of the Sunday law would surely resujt in arrests.Upon tlie part of tee management of the theater it was pleaded that the Sunday night cooking was a mistake; that it was made without consulting the calendar to ascertain the day of the week; that no more Sunday shows were contemplated, and that the production of “The Night Before Christmas” would be in moral effect strong?^ than iany sermon ever preached from a Sandusky pulpit.Mr. Boecklirg had no intention of violating any law, he claims, when the show was accidentally booked or.
