Through the kindness of Mr. Carroll, of Vi!U Nova, our reporter had an invitation 'to be present at an examination, held today, at St. Thomas’s Home, Villa Nova. The boys in the several daises answered most creditably. Father Morris examined the boys in Bible and Church history (Father Formby’s history), Mr. i'*rrol examined in grammar and geography ; and Mr. Power, his assistant, examined the clasees in sums. It was quite pleasant to find the answering far above what one might expect under the■circumstances. Quite an array of prizes were given—from acme skates to baby toys. Oi remarking the absence of books among the prises, Father Morris informed us that the boys had a library in the house, and books would not be so welcome as skates, footballs and toys. Wo regret we have only time for a note, but certainly the teachers at Villa Nova are evidently working hard.
