Resident Among 3 Indicted In Big Theft of Securities A Federal Grand Jury in Los Angeles indicted three men yesterday on charges stemming — from last summer's — theft of more than $30,000,000 worth of securities. Each of the defendants was accused in the in dictment of violations of federal statutes prohibit ing possession and trans portation in interstate commerce in stolen secu rities. One of the defendants, 44-year-old Nicholas Ave netti, of 4934 Laurel Can yon Road, North Holly wood, was among seven Americans arrested in London last month in con nection with the same tase 2 from Hawaii Those seven men, ad ding to London author ities, were in possession of more than 12,000,000 worth of stolen securities. They are being held in England for trial. Indicted in Los Angeles with Avenetti were Thomas K. Suzuki 56 and George Ekita 37, both of Honolulu, Suzuki and Ekita are expected to be arraigned soon in Los Angeles. The date has not been set, however. Avenel, meanwhile, A will nak be brought to Tios Angeles until this case in Britain has been com pleted. Oh US. Atty. David Camon, who is han dling the case locally, said the securities were stolen last August in Chicago while en route from the American Banknote Co. to various transfer agents throughout the United States The securities report edly were of the Hoover Co., Allyn and Bacon Inc. and Hospital Investors. The indictment alleged that Suzuki was contacted in Honolulu early last month by Elita. He later flew from Hawaii to Los Angeles to meet with Ekitg and Ave netli and received the securities or was con tended. at Claims Delivery The indictment accused Suzuki of forging his name and the number of the shares of the stolen certificates and pledging them “under false pre tenses” with the Ameri can Security Bank in Honolulu for $5000 in cash. Suzuki, it was claimed, later flew back to Los Angeles and delivered the money to his co-defend ants
