A. K. FURRY.Albert Ross Furry was born to Joseph and Rosanna Logan Furry on May 17, 1848, in Marshall county Indiana. Early in the year 1855 the family moved to Hardin county settl-! ing first at Eldora. While living at that place, and while still a young child, an unfortunate skating accident developed into a long course of illness which deprived him of the proper use of one limb and left the touch of suffering with every undertaking of his after life. Only those near him ever understood or appreciated the heroic, uncomplaining battle, in which day by day. he was victor. or at what cost.A good common school education, supplemented by advanced studies at Iowa college, Grinnell, enabled him to engage in business on his own behalf in Alden in 18S0. In 1ST7 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Grapp. Three children were born to them. Harley E., Cora L., and Frederick C.. all of whom survive. In 1893 the family removed to Chicago but by frequent visits among relatives and friends at their former home have kept in touch with Alden and its' interests. It was but .natural, with these associations in kindly memory, and when it was known the day of his final summons could not be long posponed, that he should ex-press the wish, as he did, that his body might rest near the scene of his early manhood, his hopes and aspirations.Self-schooled by suffering, he had so fully learned the need and value of buoyancy of spirit as to make it an inseparable part of his daily life. He was either as a boy or man always generous, indulgent and unselfish, and above all, always hopeful and bright-spirited. He died Thursday morning, December 7, 1905, at St. Francis hospital, Colorado Springs, Colorado, aged fifty-seven years, six months and fourteen days. The remains arrived in Alden Saturday afternoon and funeral services were held at the home of M. J. Furry Sun-, day afternoon, conducted by Rev. Geo. L. Marsh pastor of the Congregational church.—Alden Times.
