A*: M0B3I05 Wives.—The Deseret News, ofSepember 5tb, reports these remarks as partof a speech by President Hebes Kimballat the Mormon Tabernacle:It has been asserted that some of the 3Iormon women believed in the homely adage, “sauce for the goose, sauce for thev )*; gander,” and hence a plurality of husbands'jbe allowed. The' following reproof of ?! President Kimball shows that the “strong . minded, women” are asserting their rights among the Mormons, and demand a plural-t itv oi husbands. The President thusj **! “rakes down” the uneasy women:* j “There are some ladies who are not hap-1! pv in their present situation; but that wo* „, men who cannot be happy with two, and' a man that is not happy with one wife can-r ? not be with two, even though they are good 5; women. You know alt women are good ; or ought tobe. They were made for an angelic being and I would be glad to see f \ them act more angelic in their behavior.‘ You are made more angelic and a little 11 weaker than man. Man is made of rougher materia! to open the way, to cut down bushes and kill the snakes, that women may walk along through life and not soil and tear their skirts. When you see a woman with ragged* I skirts you may know she wears the unraen-j tioaables for she is doing the man's business f and has not time to cat off the rags that are*: hanging around her. From this time hence-O D? J forth you may know what woman wears . | her husband's pants.”
