Wrestlers defeat Knoxville squadLast Thursday night the Albia Blue Demons hosted a tough Knoxville wrestling team. As a result the Demons mustered up their second straight win. This was the first conference win for Albia this season.Coach Mordan stated, Most of our boys wrestled real well against a well coached and good team. We really put it togheter. Where some of the boys fell down in their performances the others picked it up. I was very pleased with Kelly Hughell’s performance as he came up to the varsity and wrestled in Harley Rominger’s place at 145 lbs. with a six lbs. disadvantage. Hughell is certified at 138 lbs. but moved to a higher weight class because of Rorainger’s injury.Albia’s varsity wrestler’s came back from a 12-2 deficit after the first three matches to win 32-21. The Panthers got off to a good start winning the first two bouts and tieing the third. But Albia was just beginning as Phil Schleier, Gary Chidester, Kelly Hughell, and Steve Coon decisioned their men. Owen Rossman and Randy Kint both pinned their men in the first time period.
