Edward J. Ruff of the Baptist Haven of Rest and formerly of Hilda died in hospital here Mon day. He was 83. Funeral services will be held from the Washington Ave. Church of God at 1:30 pm Wednesday, with Rev. William Barber and Rev. J. Jalobsh officiating. Inter ment will follow in the family plot of Hillside cemetery. Mr. Ruff was born in Odessa, Russia, in 1877, and was educated there. In 1910 he came to Canada and having spent one year at Ver non, B.C., operated a blacksmith shop at Hilda from 1911 until his retirement in 1940, when he came to Medicine Hat. Surviving are his wife Chris tiana; sons John and Joe of Cal gary, Albert of Stewart Island and Edward of Ponoka; daughters Rose (Mrs. E. Flaig) of Kelowna, B.C. and Louise (Mrs. L. Leple) of Lodi, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Eisenmann, in Germany, and 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Helen Miller in 1947, by his wife Helen in 1934 and by his wife Caroline in 1948.
