Hubert Smith spent Monday in Dallas on business. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hackney and children left this week for Corpus Christi for the holidays. Morris Howard of Camp Rob erts, Calif., is visiting his moth er, Mrs. J. P. Howard of Med icine Mound, Texas. Guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Jones during the hol idays will be Capt. and Mrs. M. E. Gilliland of Houston. Mr. A. A. Wisdom of Duncan, Oklahoma, spent the weekend visiting in the home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Jones. Sr. Mrs. Jack Smith of Kinsboro has arrived to spend the winter with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith Jr. of McGehie, Arkansas plans to spend the holidays visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hol lis Martin. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Burkey and son, Jimmy, of Lubbock, plan to spend the holidays visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Sample. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Denton of Wichita Falls announce the ar rival of a daughter, Jane, at the Wichita Falls General Hos pital Wednesday. Dan and Marion Hook left Wednesday for Denton to spend the weekend visiting in the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Beaugardus. Rev. and Mrs. D. P. Robinson of Grand Prairie are here to spend the holidays visiting in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Richardson. Guest Speaker at the South Side Assembly of God Sunday night was Rev. A. C. Bates, of Waxahachie, Home Missionary Secretary for the State of Texas. Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Lowry and son, Victor, have returned from a weeks visit in Freeport, where they visited relatives. They were also in Wichita Falls and Dal las. Floyd Melton has returned to the veterans hospital in Amarillo after spending some time here with his wife, after receiving his honorable discharge from the U. S. Army. Word has been received here that Ensign, Bobby Henderson and Pete Jones son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Jones Sr., have met in Tientsin and spent at short leave together. Joe H. Anderson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Anderson Sr., student at Texas Technological College, Lubbock, is spending the holidays here visiting in the home of his parents. Mrs. George Naylor of Lub bock, Miss Pat Naylor of T.S. C.W., Denton, and George Nay lor of College Station will spend the holidays visiting in the home of Mrs. Mary Phillips. Everett Monroe Harrell, F. 1-0, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Har rell, arrived in Quanah recently to be with his family and friends after receiving an honorable discharge from the U. S. Navy. Harrell entered service in Feb ruary, 1943, received training at San Diego, California, and left for sea duty in the Pacific. He received his discharge at San Diego, California. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cox and son, Jack David, of Sulphur, Okla., are spending this week here visiting his mother, Mrs. D. H. Cox. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Denning ton have received word that their son, LeRoy Dennington Y 3-C will arrive in the states soon. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Turner and his sister, Mrs. Stella J. Royal of San Antonio will spend the holidays with their mother, Mrs. Kate Turner. Miss Robbie Jean Williams, student at T.W.C., arrived Friday to spend the holidays visiting in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Williams. J. M. George Sr. of Altus, Ok lahoma, left today for his home after spending the past 30 days here visiting in the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. M. George. Miss Mildred Galway of Abi lene has spent the past week here visiting in the homes of her sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Cody Wil son, and Mrs. R. O. Dickerson. Miss Patsy Elton of Amarillo, and Sgt. and Mrs. L. C. Simp son of Wichita Falls, are spend ing the week here visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank El ton. Dr. and Mrs. J. M. George and sons, Walter and Dewitt, will ac company Y2-C Bill Donaghey to Oklahoma City on his return trip to report for further assignment ment. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Ellison and daughter, Mary Jean of 3eamont will arrive here Fri day to spend the holidays visit ing in the home of her mother, Mrs. N. J. Dickerson, Pvt. and Mrs. Neil Richardson will arrive in Quanah Monday from Aberdeen, Maryland, to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Riley and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Richard son. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Whited, Jr., of Washington, D. C., are ex pected to arrive in Quanah the latter part of this week to spend the Christmas holidays visiting in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Whited, Sr. Mr C Newton A. Handy, son of Mrs. Gertie Handy, arrived in Quanah Friday to be with his wife and mother, after receiving his honorable discharge from the U. S. Navy. Handy entered ser vice in March, 1943, received training at Farragut, Idaho, and left for overseas duty in the Pa cific. Major F. O. Griffith Jr. who for sometime has been stationed at Kunming, China, has returned to the states via Singapore, For mosa, Okinawa, Japan and Dutch Harbor. Maj. Griffith with his family, now in Madison, Wis., expects to spend the holidays here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Griffith Sr. Walter Donaghey Jr.,of Okla homa City has advised his par ents, Dr. and Mrs. J. M. George that he will spend Christmas in Quanah. This is the first Christ mas in the past five years that Dr. and Mrs. George have had all three sons home, Sgt. Joe Dewitt George has received his honorable discharge and Y 2-C Bill Donaghey is here on a thir ty day leave. Mrs. R. H. King of Harrold and Med spent in all day in Fort Worth Miss Patsy to Pitt of Dallas itl spend the holidays visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. FE. E Pitt. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henry and daughter, Jane Ann, plan to spend the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Simmons. Pfe. Earl Chancellor of Fort Sam Houston, plans to spend the holidays here with his mother, Mrs. Winnie Chancellor. Lt. Ross B. Magee is here on a 15 day leave visiting his fam ily and friends. He will report back to New Orleans, La. Miss Josephine Martin of Honeygrove will spend the hol idays visiting her sisters, Mrs. Kate Turner and Mrs. E. E. Pitt. Miss Effie Rankins of Sham rock will spend the Christmas holidays visiting in the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Womack. Mr. and Mrs. Crit Clark of Watervalley are spending the hol idays visiting his mother, Mrs. L. T. Clark and her mother, Mrs. Edd Young. Billy Morley S 2C, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morley, arrived in Quanah Monday to spend a ten day leave visiting in the home of his parents. Cpl. and Mrs. Thomas Harris of Amarillo plan to spend the holidays here visiting in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Favor. Miss Pauline Morley of Glade water will arrive home today to spend the holidays visiting in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morley, Mr. and Mrs. Joe M. Brooks and son, Rob, of Denton, plan to spend the holidays here visiting in the home of her sister, Dr. and Mrs. R. R. McDaniel. Mr. and Mrs., Robert Watt and daughter, Dorothy Lee, of Rus ton, La., are spending the holi days here visiting in the home of his mother, Mrs. R. L. Watt. Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Robinson plan to leave Friday for Quincy, Florida, where they will spend the holidays visiting in the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Davis. Mrs. George Cook has received word that her husband , Pfc. George Cook has arrived in the states after spending the past ten months on overseas duty, and will be home soon. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Crawford of Childress plan to spend the hol idays here visiting in the home of his parents, S Sgt. and Mrs. W. H. Crawford and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morley. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sparks of Merizon are spending the hol idays here visiting in the home of their daughter, Miss Kathleen, and his sisters, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Carroll, and Miss Winnie Chancellor. Mrs. W. V. Favor and daugh ter, Jo, spent the early part of the week in San Antonio. They were accompanied on their re turn trip by Mrs. Bill Favor and daughter, Bobby, who plan to spend the holidays here. Cox, Bernard Bishop, arrived in Quanah Tuesday to join his family after receiving an hon orable discharge from the U. S. Navy. Bishop entered service in January, 1944, received training at Farragut, Idaho, and was sta tioned at Pasco, Washington, at the time he received his dis charge.
