%Son of John 6. and Mary Phillips, was born in Pike county, Ind., near Union, on Oct. 23, 1864 While.at an early age, his parents moved to near Buena Vista, where he lived until 1892, the year in which he was married. In this year he moved to Center township, Gibson county, where he followed farming for a period of 3 years, when he came to Hazleton and followed farming and sawmilling for another three years when he moved to Princeton and remained a year, returning to Hazleton where he again embarked in the sawmill business and after a short time added a planing mill, to which he has added buildings and office and now carries a complete line of hard and soft lumber, hard plaster, lime, cement, sash, doors, roofing, lath and builders material and hardware of eveiy description.Mr. Phillips is our present Township Trustee and his wor/r in behalf of the people who elected him is praised by all. His special attention to the improvement of the school properties in the township and his wise selections of teachers, proves him a man of unusual sound judgement• M ^and an ideal trustee.
