Philanthropic Lodge No. 147, was organized in Hazleton, Mar.12, 1875, by J. C. Calhoun, of Princeton Lodge No. 64, with 20charter members. The first of-*ficers were:Daniel-Knight, N. G.; Stella Drennon, Recording Secretary; Lucy Briner, Financial Secretary: Nettie Sisson, Treas.Their present membership is78.MODERN WOOEMEN OF AMERICA.White River Camp No. 3330, Modern Woodmen of America, was organized Oct. 21, 1895, by P. J. Strack, district deputy, with 17 charter members, viz. Thomas Lewis, Win. M. Court-right, D. J. Humphreys, Chas.M. Kneir, Henry G. Ehlers, W. C. McFetridge, W. L. Jones, Elijah Gilbert, J. W. Cunningham. Frank Ellis, A. C. Sisson, J. R. Phillips, Win. Owen, C. F. Spain, T. F. Thomas, W. A. Barnett, W.F. Ciissidy.The first officers were as follows.V. C., T. F. Thomas; W. A., H.G. Ehlers; E. B., Frank Ellis; Clerk, A. C. Sisson; Escort, W. L. Jones; Watchman, E. Gilbert; Sentay, Wm. M. Courtright; Camp Physician, Dr. J. F. Gud-gel; Delegate to State Camp, T. F. W Cunningham.The Camp now numbers 96,*representing over $200,000 insu r-ance.The Modern Woodmen of America is a fraternal beneficiary organization. It will be 25*years old che 5th day of next January. The order numbers nearly 1,000,000 mem hers, the largest of its kind in the world. Its members are insured onthe mutual plan.The deceased members are as follows:Aura C- L. Condiff, $2,000. Louis LaFair, 1,000; F rafale Wood-burn, 3,000, Frank Miller, 2,000; Walter Spain, 2,000; C. L. Marten, 2,000; Lon Wheeler, 3,000, making a total paid by M. W. of A. at Hazleton, Ind., of S15,000.BEN HUR.Hazleton Court No. 221, T. B.H., was organized Jan. 16, 1901, with 55 members and the following officers:Past Chief, Arella Knight; Chief, C. L.
