SENTENCES ON THE .VECHBISUOPS OP COLOGNE ASP POSEN.Reprisals arc being carried out to tlie letter of the law. For each appointment of a priest the bishops receive a line, or, as an alternative, a term of imprisonment, the penalties for each act being added up so as to form a considerable total. Thus Mgr. Melehers, Archbishop of Cologne, has been this week sentenced for six appointments to pay a fine of 120:) thalers, or to be imprisoned for twelve months.
