ImJictt-Tiou* Very Promising.In ordr to allow the cement to harden in which the 12 Vi Inch casing has been set at the Centennial Oil well, no drilling will he done until after the holidays, says the Torring-ton Telegram. The well is now 16 Is teel deep and is in black shale. The casing just put in the well has successfully shut oif the preusure oi gas and water.In a lett »r which Claude F. Palmer president of the Centennial company, will send out tomorrow lo the stockholders, calling the annual meeting to be held on January 12. ho will say:“Our test well Ik in excellent condition and to a depth of 1618 feet with 12 Vi inch casing set lo the bottom und cemented in place. We struck a good showing of gas und oil, in fact about n half million cubic feet of gas, and a quuntity of possibly 5 barrels of oil per day, In u 22-foot sandstone at 1,556 to 1,667 feet While this is not in commercial quantities, yet it demonstrates to u» that th« Wall creek sandstones which lie at an estimated depth of 2.800 to 8.300 foet will likely carry commercial production of oil. We have been handicapped considerably during the past six weeks on account of the coul strike which made it necessary for us to Install oil burners, supply tanka, and substitute futd oil Instead of coal, which we now have In operation, and it I* working fine. The storm conditions have been hud. however, and hamper°d utt continuously of late. In run the roads are impassible on ac count of drifting snow ut this writing. and II may lie at leust two weeks before we will he able to resume operation.
