METAL TRADES COUNCILErie, Pa., October 9, 1913.To All Organized Labor:Greeting—Three months ago the Metal Trades of Erie, Pa., and vicinity sent out a circular to all labor organizations calling their attention to the strike of the Metal Trades in this locality, also to the kind of goods manufactured by the struck firms.This is to inform you that the strike is still on. Two of the foundries are closed down, the result of the strike, and several of the others are on their last legs. If we can get the moral support of organized labor all over the United States and Canada we could make these firms come to terms with organized labor or go out of business, for most of them manufacture goods that are handled by union men.The fact that the state constabulary are patrolling the streets of Erie today. being brought here by the Manufacturers’ Association, shows how desperate they have become in trying to defeat the movement here, and for this reason we are appealing to those of our members who may be using some of the products of these unfair concerns We know plumbers in particular are using tools the like of which may be made here, and if you knew they were being made by these firms you would never touch them, and tor this reason we are issuing this circular so that you may keep everlastingly in your minds the unfair products of these scab institutions.It is not only the tool you may be using, but other products as well, and when you look over our list we are forwarding you, for God’s sake do your duty and “hammer” at this unfair product and try not to have installed in your city plumbers’ supplies,'tools, or in fact any of the followingarticles.Ask every union and non-union man to stay away from Erie while this strike is on. Agencies, such as the Erie General Electric Co., are advertising all over this country for men, andOdin Stove Works—Wood, coal and gas stoves.Standard Pattern Company—Patterns and models.Erie Pattern Works—Patterns andmodels.Kindly give this matter your 1 mine-other ads. may appear. Erie City Iron Works—All kinds of engines and boilers.Nagle Boiler and Engine Foundryj the facts herein contained the fullest publicity among the mechanics in your city.
