Oil Paintings From Brush of Former Van Wert Resident Placed on Exhibition, Wilber C. Kensler has provided eighteen oil paintings to be exhibited at Brumback Library the next three weeks. They are all scenes from Muskegon and vicinity. The collec tion includes an old mill in winter, a fishing village, and the wind-swept Michigan sand dunes. Summer scenes, brilliant autumn colors, and sunshine on the snow vie for attraction. The “Neighborly Chat” shows the farmers resting on their plow. “Monday Morn ing” is a dooryard with its flowers against the cottage and the washing on the line, “On the Pier” is full of life with fishermen and picknickers. Mr. Kensler was born in Van Wert county. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and was a special pupil under Victor Higgins, one of America’s outstanding Indian painters, Wellington J. Reynolds, one of Chicago's foremost teachers and painters, and Harry Anthony De Young, a Chicago landscape painter. He is now head of the art department of the Hackiey Manual Training School of Muskegon, Michigan, and has charge of the Hackiey Art Gallery painting classes. He also conducts outdoor classes during the summer. Mr. Kensler’s friends and any others Interested, as well as their out-of-town guests, are invited to see this exhibi tion during the holiday season. Public Matters, Mrs. Grace Wistner, of East Second street, City Auditor elect, is at home from Columbus, where she was as ‘guest at the home of her brother, Harold D. Smith, and also attended at runcheon of the State Association of I City Auditors.
