Ex-Finance Commissioner Expired This Morning-- Sketch of His Life, A telephone message,to the City Hall, this morning announced the sad news that Mr. Henry Brautigam had just died. Mayor Hoos at once directed the flag to be raised at half mast out of respect to Mr. Brautigam's memory. He was born In Germany February 13, 142. Tn 151 his parents came to America, and settled in New York City. When thirteen years of ige he was apprenticed to the furniture trade. In 1865 he joined the lumber business and formed a par nership know as Vogel Brautigam. Tn 188 he was married to M.rs Catherine Loewe, of this city, who survives him. Some years afterwards he became a fruit commission merchant, with a loose store in West street, New York City. In 1876 he was elected a member of Assembly from the county and was ap pointed by Mayor Wanser a member of The Practice Board. Some few years ago he was nominated by the Republicans for Senator, but was defeated by the late W. D. Daly. An fort. Was made recently to run him for Mayor but he declined. For many years he suffered from kidney roubles to which he succumbed.
