A brakeman, whose name I could not learn, was caught between the cars here today, while coupling,on the Buffalo New York road, and seriously injured internally. W. M. A. BRADFORD. Cut His Foot. John Hill, while getting out stumps for the railroad company, near the de pot in this city, aout three o'clock this afternoon, cut his foot over the instep so badly he will have a stiff ankle for life. Mrs. Burkholdt, who has been quite ill for several weeks,is improving slight ly. Some parties who took in the Grant reception have not gotten fully rid of the “enthusian” taken in. A new meat market has been opened recently by Meyers Son, from Sharon, Mercer county. John Craft, the grocery dealer, is sel ling out, with the intention of remov ing to Nebraska and turning farmer, Joe Flynn is still closing out. He will remove from the city soon. J. W. Taylor has returned from a four weeks’ visit to St. Catharines, Canada. He will immediately dispose of his oil interests here and remove to Dablongea, Georgia, the present centre of the gold excitement. The conundrum is, how large a chunk of religion’is there in the church mem ber’s heart who compels his hired man to pump two oil wells and fire two large boilers for the sum of twenty-five dol lars a month and “eat himself.” Peterson, telegraph operator for the United lines, has been transferred to Bradford, Cox supercedes him. The sunday school will have a Christ mas tree in the Union church on Christ mas eve.
