VANDERGRIFT, Pa., Dec. 16 (#)—Gladys Smail, 15, hovered between life and death today, the victim of a love-crazed youth who killed three members of her family. _ John Fallone, 17, went berserk ‘Wednesday night and cut down with rifle -fire Gladys’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Warren Smail, and an uncle, William Smail. He shot the girl in the chest. _ Fallone was fatally wounded yesterday by a bullet from a posse of 50 police and volunteers who cornered him in the woods near this northwestern Pennsylvania community. He died last night. Gus Zanos, an Apollo policeman, was wounded in the gunfight.
