Oklahoma PlannedProposed Route Would Shorten Distance To Tulsa; Traverses Excellent Agricultural Area Now Served by Goiinty Roads;Another-outlet for eastern Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas through' the establishment' and- improvement of a road from Oklahoma- highway No, 10, east toward Gentry, is being, sought by Tulsa, Okla., with the assistance of the Gentry Commercial Club and the Rogers Community club, \Newton- Walker, secretary of the Rogers Community club, has received a letter, from Charles P. Colcord in Tulsa, in which he said plans are being made to have the Oklahoma highway commission, construct a new road through that territory, which at present is served only by county roads;The proposed new road would extend almost due west from Gentry, intersecting Oklahoma highway No. 10 a short distance north of Kansas, Olda. The. route is through what is considered one of the finest agricultural sed-tions of eastern Oklahoma, being practically level country.I.t also would lessen the distance between Rogers, Gentry and Tulsa by approximately, eight miles, and;at the. same time would Eliminate the rough, hilly country- on Oklahoma highway No. 11 west of Siloam Springs. Upon completion of the proposed road, the route to Tulsa'would be from Gentry west to the intersection' of- highway 10, south to Kansas and over highway II to Tulsa. lt;Farmers in this the western part of Benton county are particularly interested in the road because it would open new territory for trucks,. many, of which are now diverted east from Siloam Springs into Fayetteville, thence north over highway 71 to Springdale and Rogers.It is stated that the Arkansas state highway department has agreed to take ,QVer the Arkansas section-of the road from Gentry to the state line, a distance of better than five miles, in the event the Oklahoma end is included in the construction program of that
