A.. C.K.IroerPARRISHverserry r. I jood ;e of heirMrs. Mary N. Parrish died last Friday evening at 10:35 o’clock at the home of her daughter,..Mrs. S. A. Mann, at Ontario. She was bom in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, and came with her husband, O. W. Parrish, to LsGrsnge county, in 1865, settling at Ontario. Mr. Parrish, who was a civil war Veteran, engaged in mercantile business soon after locating there and continued at that for a number of years. Later he became a mail clerk on the G. R. A I. railroad and filled that position 18 years. He died in 1899. Mrs. Parrish was an active member of the Methodist church all her life and ever since she came to Ontario she had been a pillar in the Methodist church there. Her death will be a serious loss to the Ontario congregation. She is survived by four daughters and two sons: Mrs. Sol Kepler, Frank D. Parrish, Mrs. S. A. Mann and Miss Lulu M. Parrish, all of tlie vicinity of Ontario; Anson N. Parrish of Harvey. 111.; and Miss Mar-cenia A. Parrish of Kalamazoo. One son, George W., died in infancy. There is also a half brother, J. J. Bom, of Delta, O., and a half sister, Joan Van Nortwkk of Wauseon, O. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock in the Methodist church at Ontario,.Rev.- Morrison of Howe, officiating.' Interment took place at Ontario.SPANGLKRH.khol one Jan-the i of tion that4tenity pro-and n at take iked hall The intaFoxse-Mrs. Sarah Jane Spangler died Monday morning at 0 o'clock at her home north of LaGrange, after a year’s ill ness. She hsd an attack of influenza last Christmas snd had been bedfast since that time. Mrs. Spangler waa bora In Holmes county, Ohio, August 16, 1842. In 1864 she came to the home of her blether, J. Q. A. Booth, near Orland, Where she stayed two years. In 186@ she was united in marriage with George Spangler and aettled on a farm three miles north of LaGrange. With the exception of two years they remained there the rest of their lives. Mr. Spangler was ona of LaGrange county’s well known farmers and died in 1916. Mrs. Spangler waa the last of a family of nine children, and it survived by nine children: Witlism, of Minneapolis, Minn.: Mrs. Hidot Griffith ot SKe Griffith, of San Juan, Porto Rico; Mrs.' John Gaunt of London. England; John, of Sturgis: Edwin,. George, Mary and Madge, at home, and Mrs, Beatrice Yunker, who is at present taking a business course at Fort Wayne. The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 o’clock a. m. at the home. Rev. M N. Wood, D. D-, officiating. Inter roent will take place in the Hoagland cemetery.Enoch Hoff died Tuesday morning at his home, just outside of town, aged ■ 72 years: m Mr. Hoff hsd been in failing health for a year or more and had declined rapidly since the : beginning of winter. Sunday night he Suffered a stroke of paralysis and continued to sink until he died. Mr. Hoff was born in Ashland county, Ohio; but had been a resident of LaGrange county for 67 years. For many years he was a teacher in this county and taught in quite a number of its schools and was one of the students in the old Ontario Beminary. He was also principal of the school at Cherry vale, Kan., several years. During the latter part of his life he was engaged in farming. He waa one of a family of ten children. Surviving are hia wife and four children: Mra. Grace Hitchcock, nearSyracuse, N. Y ; Mra. Glen Deal, of Springport. Mich.: Mra. George Searing of Howe, and Jay Hoff, who ia also in Michigan. There are also two brothers and five sisters: Allen, ofGardner, Kan.; James, of this county; Mrs. P. Benham snd Mrs. J. B. Swart, of Cherry vale, Kan.; Mrs. Marion Gar-mire, east of LaGrange; Mrs C. A.-Holsinger and Mrs. Charles Stewart of LaGrange. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Ros* W. Stoakea officiating.
