A PET LAMBExposes the Deception Practiced by the Politictift Pardon oi the Firm ot Laugsdnle «te Clay.GREENCA6.TLE, lND.,I)elt;J. 13, *79.Editor Press—Dear Sir : Pieaso warn the preachers, officers and leaders of the church, and more especially the colored, for it is woil known ,that the colored preacher of tho African Methodist church sont false circulars to the South, for several ot them have been returned with the exodus* with his name signed to them, and well known to be his own hand writing, stating that there were thousands ot acres ot ground not under cultivation, because they haven’t enough people to cultivate it, which is a lie ; and that common laborers could get from SI 50 to $2 00 per day, payable every night. We think, it is very bad for one who pretends to be our instructor to participate in so much wrong.On last Saturday morning Mr. Clay was seen coming up the back with women and children* assisting the exodus immigrants, which the public think is a very mean trick, and pulling them away from comfortable homes in North Carolina. If he was taking half of the time in preaching and instructing them in the way they should go, and not bo pulling and shipping them around like cattle, that would become a preacher much more.
