The Nashville t'nion of last Friday contains the latest account of theFederal surrender at Hartaville.Tenn.,Iand presents the affair in quite a different light from the accounts previously published in the Cincinnati papers. The Union says it* statements are derived from “reliabler! sources.” It appears that the two j Ohio regiments gave way, leaving the 104th Illinois regiment, a section the 13th Indiana battery, and a battallion of the 2d Indiana cavalry to meet the whole rebel force. TheI1It1j! 104th Illinois stood their ground gal-r lautlv, and drove the enemy two or• j * * mfthree times, hut was finally overpow-tered by the superior forcemy. It is as gratifying to us as itwill be to the people of La Salle coun-i | ty, where the 104th was raised, to learn that that splendid regiment conducted itself with credit and honor inss8this unfortunate affair.
