CAP honors top membersBy Copt. Mike Hood Civil Air PatrolTop cadets were honored Nov. 29 at the Tyndall Cadet Squadron Civil Air Patrol annual awards banquets.The banquet, held at the Four Winds Restaurant, recognized the recipients of the Gen. Kirvin was presented the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award. The award is presented to those cadets who have completed phase two of the four phase cadet program. Cadets must be a Civil Air Patrol member for at least 14 months and pass a 100 questionaerospace exam with a score of 85 or better. Cadets receiving this award are eligible to compete for scholarships, enlist inthe Air Force as an E-3 and are promoted into the cadet officer ranks. Cadet Kirvin also received the Cadet Officer of the Year Award.Cadet AlC William Zielinski received the Cadet of the Year Award; Senior Member of the Year went to 1st Lt. Donald Tyson; and Parents of the Year Award winners were Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Kirvin, parents of the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award winner.At the dinner, a special table was set as a tribute to the American prisoners of war and missing in action.
