OBITUARY.Pjctkk £. Moskb.Peter E. Moser, well known about tbls town and settlement, died at tbe home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Hilgi, near Honduras, this county, last. Monday afternoon from pneu-monia.The deceased was born in the Bernese Jura, Switzerland, Nov. 25,1831, the son of Peter Moser and wife Katharine (Oberly ), one of tbe very first, if not the first of the Swiss Mennonlte pioneers of this settlement. The elder Moser Immigrated to tbls country in the thirties of last century, settling first in Wayne County, Ohio, thence removing to the vicinity of Vera Cruz about 1838 or *39 and settling down on what has since been known as the John Hofstetter farm just east of Vera Cruz, overlooking the Wabash river, Id the midst of tbe primeval forest teaming with wolves, hers, deer and occasional Indians. In these surroundings young Peter E. grew up with his other brothers, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Thomas, and no wonder that be grew up to be one of the most experienced hunters. He especially made his mark as a rabbit hunter, earning for himself tbe name of “flash Peter** from bis Meads. After growing to young manhood he was married to Aana Amstutz and settled on a farm now occupied by his sun Daniel, where be lived until old age made farming too strenuous for him and he aod his aged wife moved to Berne. Here they lived until a few years ago when his wife preceded him, since which time he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. fliigi. Funeral took place yesterday toreaoon from the Defenseless Mennonlte church west of Berne.He leaves two sms, Daniel, and Adam, ana four daughters, Mesdames Sarau fliebtjrsieln, 11. fliigi, Mary Kohler, aud J. Neueoscuwander, all of this county (the latter living Id Berne). -Besides these he leaves 24 graud-chUdien and 5 great-giand-oniidreu. O.ie sou, Joha, died several years ago In Ohio.JPirA1bcG
