There are about 30 good claims here, and the rest don’t amount to much so far. The country for 60 miles around is staked off, but not prospected. It is a hard country to getKDvisions through to prospect in. rry is raising all the excitement on the outside, wanting to fill the country with men and cut wages down, which j thcv arc trying to do now.don’t see any inducements to bring -any one here: it’is a hard, tough coun- ! try. I have been out on three 50-mile trips and find nothing in it. A stampede starts every day. They are afraid people will gor disgusted, go out and lt;give, the thing a way. 1“I am afraid there will he a terrible J scarcity of provisions here this winter.
