The one who reached the bush first, after skating round the stake, was to be declared monarch of the prize. Eight persons entered the list of competitors, but two of whom, however, turned the stake— ■Geo. Stoner and W». Clark. Tho latter roach-■cd the bush about a rod advance, and was dc-■clarcd victor. Time 126 seconds.A second race was got up tor apurne of $5.— 'Six Competitors—three only of whom turned the stake,and a German, named Hjwmmcks, took tho pile.
