FLOYD COUNTY DEMOCRATICMEETING.At a meeting of the Democrats of Floyd coun-V, held at the court house in New Albanv. on to 11th inst., Thomas Piers was called to thehair, John Coleman and G.ILNield appointedicc Presidents, and D. Tiller and If. II. Roysc. Secretaries.On motion, a commitiec of three were appointed to draft re.solulions expressive of the cn.se of the meeting. J. 13. Norman, A. P. Wil-ard, and John Brown were appointed said com* nittee, who, after retiring for a short lime, hrough their chairman reported the followingwere unanimously adopted:* Iiii 'solred, That we view with unmimdod satis* sction the present prosperity of our common •oumry, its progress in all the elements of grcat-dence reposed in him by the Democracy of the Union, and is entitled to our most cordial andhearty support for the ability which has markedhis administration in the prosecution of the existing war, and his successful efforts to carry out the great piinciples of the Democratic party.Resolved, That we have undiminished confidence in the integrity and ability of Gov. James *Whitcomb; that the present prosperity of the Slate of Indiana is the highest praise he can receive; finding her overwhelmed in debt and her citizens embarrassed, by his exertions the foul stain of repudiation has been wiped from our escutcheon and the credit of the State placed on a basis of which every Indianiun may be proud.Resolvedy That we apnrovc of the method of nominating candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency by a national convention, andicss, the advances it has made towards equaliz- in 1,0 lt;-‘vcnl c;in .vie^ our support to any mantig the burdens ot taxation among all classes of ts citizens, the liberal reward which every description o! labor commands, the remunerating trices which the farmer, during the past year, las received lor die products of the soil, and the sound and comparatively healthy condition of the monetary alfuirs of the country.operations of the tariff of 1040 lias falsified the predictions of its opponents, and more than realized ike strongest andwho does not, fully and unequivocally, pledge himself to die well-known principles of the Democratic party. In our opinion the Fourth of July and the city of Cincinnati would be thewmost appropriate time and place fur bolding such convention.On motion, the meeting proceeded to appoint delegates lo attend the Democratic Stale Convcn-tion which is to assemble at Indianapolis on the 8tli of January.
