Adolph Emmanuel Kalberg Suddenly, on Saturday, December 1th, 1976 at 805 Saskatchewan Avenue West in Portage la Prairie. Adolph Kalberg, age 73 years, of Oak Tree Towers in Portage. Mr. Kalberg was born in Kenora, Ontario and moved with his family when quite young to a farm near Erickson. He received his schooling at Erickson and moved again with the family to the Bagot district in 1918 He farmed at Bagot with his family for several years. In 1987 he married the former Eleanor Longstreet and after his marriage they continued to farm and to operate a milk truck in the Bagot district. He has been retired in Portage la Prairie for the past several years Predeceased by his wife Eleanor in 1970 and one infant sister, he is survived by two brothers: Arthur and Walter Kalberg both of Bagot; and one sister, Mrs. Henry Pehrson (Ellen) of Winnipeg, several nieces and nephews and many friends. ‘The funeral service conduc ted by the Reverend H. L. Henderson was held in the Chapel of The Omega Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 14th at 2:00 pm. Mrs. W. Galbraith presided at the ‘organ and soloist, Mrs. Joan Brown sang ‘Softly and Ten derly” and ‘“Beyond The Sun set’ Attending the service in 1 group were residents of Oak Tree Towers. Honorary pallbearers were: Messrs. Robert Tarr and Albert Kelly. ‘Active pallbearers were: Messrs. Bernard Hildebrand, Harvey Robinson, Jack Wishart, Cecil Nichol, Andy Johnson’ and Lorne Wright. Interment followed in the family plot at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Frank Bennett On Wednesday, December ‘8th, 1976 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Frank Bennett, age 79 years, formerly of Rossen dale, Manitoba. Mr. Bennett was born in North Dakota and came to Winnipeg with his parents when he was a young man. When he first came to Win nipeg he worked with his father as a building contrac tor, and later took over the ‘contracting business which he ‘operated until 1996 when he bought a farm at Rossendale. He farmed successfully at Rossendale until 1967 when he retired to live in Portage la Prairie. He had been a resi dent of the Lions Prairie Manor since 1971. Predeceased by his wife Eunice in 1966, one brother Jack and one sister, Mrs. George Restall, he is survived by one son Richard of Edmon ton, Alberta, four nieces and three nephews. ‘The Rev. Father C. Soeter beek conducted the funeral ‘mass held in St. John’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December w1th at 10:00 a.m. He was assisted by Deacon George Sitter. Flowerbearers were: Messrs. Ken Rintoul, Jack Charlton and Gordon Pilkington. Pallbearers were: Messrs. Tom Rintoul, Tom Nicoll, William Pilkington, Robert Culbert, Don McCulloch and John Nicoll. Interment followed in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery with The Omega Funeral Home in care of the arrangements Mrs. Mabel Carr on Tuesday, December 7, 1976 at the Portage General Hospital, Mrs. Mabel Carr of the Newton district and for merly of 120 Dufferin Avenue East, Portage la Prairie. Mrs. Carr was born on August 1, 1898 at Elm River, Manitoba, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Thompson. In 1923 she married Cy Carr and they lived at Homewood, Man. un til 1990 when they moved to the Newton district. Follow ing the death of her husband in 1973, Mrs. Carr moved to Por tage la Prairie where she lived until September of this year. Predeceased by her hus band Cecil (Cy) Carr and one brother in infancy, she is sur vived by George and Shirley Storey and Bob and Martha Carr, grandchildren: Alison, Kathy, Patrick and Scott Storey, Ray and Heather Currie, Terry and Margaret Carr and great grandson Wayne Robert Carr. Also one sister, Mrs. Cora Williams of Melbourne, Florida, and two brothers, Hartley of Van couver and Harvey of White Rock, B.C. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held on Friday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Knox United Church, Oakville .The service was conducted by the Reverend Earl Ar mistead. Mrs. L. Edmondson sang ‘‘How Great Thou Art” and Mrs. R. Nicol presided at the organ with the church choir in attendance. Members of the Oakville U.C. attended the service in a group. Flower bearers were: Messrs. Chris Botterill and Lorne Tully Honorary bearers were Messrs. R. O. Lees, Clarence Fust, Stan Botterill, Lindsay Clements, Percy Beck, Ed Brown, Henry Toews and Hugh Currie. ‘Active pallbearers were: Messrs. Scott Storey, Patrick Storey, Don Frowerk, Terry Carr, Ray Currie and Dennis Frowerk. Interment followed in the family plot in Oakville Cemetery with the Trimble Funeral Chapel in care of the arrangements. Mrs. Ellen Jane Strong Funeral service for the late Mrs. Ellen J. Strong who passed away in Regina, Sask. on Sunday, December 5, 1976 was held on Friday, Decem ber 10 at 2 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church. The service was conducted by Reverend Don Lee of Amaranth. Mrs. C. Arksey presided at the organ with the Church Choir in at tendance. Hallbearers were, Messrs. Tom Cooper, Doug Cooper, Gordon Hall, Jo Smith, Ed Smith and Thorne Smith. Interment followed in the family plot in Lakeland Cemetery with the Trimble Funeral, Chapel in care of arrangements,
