Most of the presents are practical.Knitted si-arfs or mufflers. mittens and (dipper* nre favorites with feminine donors, whereas the gifts of the farmers usually take the form of pumpkins, bushel baskets of potatoes, barrels of apples and turkeys. Many a rural mull carrier receives on Christmas morning enough eatables to stock bis larder for weeks to come.
