John E. McCrea ObituaryAll that was mortal of John E.McCrea was laid to rest on Thanksgiving day, November 29, in Mount ' Olivet cemetery, beside his beloved mother. John F. McCrea was born in Prescott, Canada, where he resided with his mother and sister, his father having: died when he was an infant, until 1893, when they came to Chicago. John found employment with the Slack Grocery Co., where he remained until embarking in business for himself. After a few years he was enabled to open up a chain of stores in Englewood, and at the time of his death was negotiating for ‘wo more tores to add to those already acquired by him. Mr. McCrea was a good, practical business man; a most charitable man. No call for aid was left unanswered. He was a devout Catholic, a fourth degree member of Englewood Council, Kniehts of Columbus. In 1911 Mr. McCrea was married to Miss Helena McGroryof Brocfcton. Canada. Four children#blessed their union, John E., Ludwig C., Felix, and Helena Mary McCrea, who. with his sister. Mrs.; Ludwig Corell, now mourn his loss.Mr. McCrea's death was somewhat sudden. While he had been ailing a fortnight, a specialist had assured them only one hour previous of his death that he would recover. Without pain or discomfort he lay back in the arms of his wife and breathed his last. The funeral occurred from the family residence, 6709 Lafayette avc., to St. Bernard’s church, where solemn requiem high mass was celebrated by the Rev. Fathers Ryan, Cunningham and Walsh. Rev. Father Walsh preached the funeral sermon. Mr. McCrea was a true, loyal son, a devoted husband, a kind, indulging father, a loving brother, a good and faithful friend. A good citizen has passed from our midst. All Englewood mourn his loss.
