From Start Repors Pryor boys’ basketball coach John Gaskin was very pleased by the teamwork his squad showed in a 65-52 defeat of Lewis Thursday night at the Pryor gym. In other county junior high ac tion, the Rucket Rams trounced Bruner Blue 65-49, while Bruner Orange stopped Richbourg 65-52 In girls play, Ruckel trounced Bruner Blue 317, Pryor edged Lewis 31-29 and Bruner Orange top ped Richbourg 53-35. “I think the biggest reason for our success (the Pirates are 20) is ‘our teamwork,” said Gaskin, ad ding, “We have 100 percent team work, and it's working great. I can stress it enough.” Three of the Pirates’ starters ended up with double-figure scor ing. Ryan Casadaban led Pryor with 18 points and 14 rebounds, followed by DeShawn Brown with 17 points, and Andre McKinnon, who scored 14 Lewis’ Cornell Tinner led all scorers with 20 markers and 14 boards, followed by fellow Falcon Greg Washington with 18 points. Pryor held the Falcons to 15 total points in the first half, while stack ing up 2 themselves “Awesome defense, com mented Gaskin, but he would not divulge the type of defense his Pirates are playing this year. Downing also finished with eight rebounds for the Rams. JHL Roundup Breitenbech also lauded Down ing for his inside game off the bench. BRUNER ORANGE outscored Richbourg in every quarter but the final one, which had no effect on the game. After building a 40-22 halftime lead, the Spartans cruised to their first victory against one defeat this season, while sending the Roadrunners to defeat in their opener. Chris Brower scored an astronomical 35 points while snar ing 22 rebounds to lead all players in both departments. Bruwer also received double-figure scoring from Kyle Owen, with 13. Robert Bryant was a defensive demon for Bruner, finishing the game with 10 steals .J.D. Peaden was a bright spot for defending champion Richbourg, with 16 points. The next closest Spartan scorer was Anthony Westbrooks, with eight markers.
